TORMORE COTTAGE

Tormore is situated on a beautiful stretch of the Ross granite coastline, directly opposite Iona, 2/3 of a mile North of Fionnphort on the Isle of Mull.

The Old Quarry Cottages are form the 1850's and have been inhabited in various manners by the Crawford and Faithfull families since the 1920's. The Quarry halted operation during the First World War to briefly reopen again for a few years in the 1980's.

William C Crawford originally rented the cottage from the Duke of Argyll and used it as a yachting base for painting expeditions around the Western Coastline of Scotland. He bought it in the 1951, handing it on to his daughter Joan Faithfull (née Crawford) who set up her own Craft pottery there form the 1950's to 2000. The Faithfull family enjoyed glorious holidays there in the 1960's and 1970's and then with preceding family generations since then.
