John F. Mark J and helpers towed newly refurbished Waffler round from Iona to Bendoran, her new home. Waffler was originally built by William C Crawford for his daughter Joan, at his Erraid studios on the Pentlands, near Edinburgh in the 1920's and spent her formative years on trips around Tormore and the Sound of Iona from then till the late 1990's

TORMORE COTTAGE

Tormore is situated on a beautiful stretch of the Ross granite coastline, directly opposite Iona, 2/3 of a mile North of Fionnphort on the Isle of Mull. The Old Quarry Cottages are form the 1850's and have been inhabited in various manners by the Crawford and Faithfull families since the 1920's. The Quarry halted operation during the First World War to briefly reopen again for a few years in the 1980's. William C Crawford originally rented the cottage from the Duke of Argyll and used it as a yachting base for painting expeditions around the Western Coastline of Scotland. He bought it in the 1951, handing it on to his daughter Joan Faithfull (née Crawford) who set up her own Craft pottery there form the 1950's to 2000.
